You must pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6 April one year to 5 April the next) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that the charity or Community Amateur Sports Club will reclaim on our gifts for that tax year.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a simple way for charities to increase the value of monetary gifts received from UK taxpayers. When a UK taxpayer gives a gift of money to a charity, they have already paid tax on that money. As a charity, Punchdrunk is exempt from tax, so it can claim an amount from HMRC equal to the tax paid on that money by the donor. This repayment from the government increases the value of the donation by one quarter. For example, on an individual membership donation of £20, Punchdrunk can claim an additional £5 from the government.
